ARTIST STATEMENT

I started taking pictures with a point and shoot camera in High School. I did it for years as a hobby. Using a simple camera forced me to develop composition. I moved on to a Nikon with lenses and got into exposures using 'natural light'. I love photographing unusual perspective in color.

I'm interested in how the passing of time reflects on earth. Objects are left behind representing a symbolic meaning and perspective. The camera can capture the evidence & testimony an artifact can reveal.

I'm fascinated with how nature interacts with our creations and imagination. I view the camera, created from imagination, as a device I can use to record fixed points that my mind strives to connect. The camera can reflect images of impermanence and renewal in time and space. It's a good distraction for boredom.

I'm in time using imagined devices to record evidence of the past. I'm basically a Surrealist.
